The Shiva Purana and Skanda Purana
These texts state that Yakshinis dance and sing in Kubera’s court. They are described as supernatural beauties who reside in Kubera’s realm (Alakapuri). Devotees of Shiva, Yakshinis sometimes come to earth to test their devotees.
The Bhagavata Purana
Recounts the story of Kubera’s sons, Nalakubar and Manigreeva, who were cursed by Narada to become trees. The Yakshinis worshipped near these trees, leading to their subsequent liberation by Lord Krishna. This story reveals that Yakshinis were connected to both the heavenly realm and the earthly realm.
