Varaha Purana is one of the 18 Puranas composed by Maharishi Vedavyas, and the place of this Purana is 12 among the 18 Puranas. Lord Vishnu incarnated as Varaha to save the earth. That is why this Purana is also called Vaishnava Purana. A detailed explanation of Varaha Avatar has been described in this Purana.

The story of Varaha avatar of Lord Vishnu is the main story in the Varaha Purana. In this Purana, Maharishi Vedavyasji has given a detailed description of many pilgrimages, fasts, sacrifices, donations, etc. The worship of Lord Narayana, the stories of Lord Shiva and Parvati, the description of the glory of the Aditya pilgrimages of Varaha Kshetravarti, a detailed description of the origin and greatness of the rivers Mokshadayini, Brahma, Vishnu, and Mahesh, the glory of the trinity, etc.

Varaha Purana composed of Maharishi Ved Vyas is divided into 2 parts like east part and the north part and is indicative of Lord Vishnu. There are 217 chapters and 24000 verses in this Purana. Varaha Purana was first written by Maharishi Ved Vyasji in ancient times.

In this Purana, apart from the story of Varaha Avatar, in this Purana, a detailed description has been given of the glory of Lord Shri Vishnu, the story of Parvati’s birth as a daughter of the Himalayas, the story of Shiva-Parvati’s marriage, etc. In this Purana, the description of Varaha-Kshetravarti Aditya-pilgrimages, fasting, Yajna-Yajna, Shraddha-tarpan, charity, rituals, etc. have been said. There is an interesting description of all the pilgrimages of Mathura Mandal and Vraj under the influence of Shri Krishna’s pastimes.

In the Varaha Purana, first of all, the auspicious dialogue of Lord Vishnu’s incarnation Varaha and Bhagwati Prithvi, the character description of Raimya in the story of Satyuga and the description of Shradh Kalpa and formidable character are found. Then the greatness of the three gods Brahma, Vishnu and Mahesh, Satyatpa Vrat Katha, Agatsya Geeta, Rudra Geeta, etc. have been described.

At the end of the first part of Varaha Purana, the description of Yamaloka, the description of Karmavipak and Vishnuvrat, and Gokarna Papanashak Mahatmaya are said from the context of the sage son. Thus it is said to be the first part of the Varaha Purana.

In this part of the Varaha Purana, a detailed description of the dialogue between Pulastya Rishi and Pururaj has been told. In the end, all the pilgrimages and religions are described.

Varaha Avatar Story :-

According to the Puranas, a demon named Hiranyaksha took the Bhagwati Earth and hid it in the sea, then Lord Vishnu appeared in the form of a Varaha avatar through the nose of Lord Brahma. Seeing the Varaha avatar of Lord Vishnu, all the gods and goddesses praised him. At the behest of all the gods and goddesses, Lord Varaha started searching for the earth. With the help of his snout, Lord Varaha found the earth and after going inside the ocean, killing the demon Hiranyaksha, brought the earth out by placing it on his teeth.
