Hanuman Chalisa (Hanuman Chalisa in English) The qualities and actions of Hanuman, a great devotee of Lord Rama, are described in forty four. This is a very short composition in which beautiful praise of Pawanputra Shri Hanuman ji has been done. In this, not only is the soulful veneration of Bajrang Bali, the personality of Shri Ram has also been engraved in simple words. The word ‘Chalisa’ means ‘forty’ because there are 40 verses in this hymn.

Goswami Tulsidas is the author of Hanuman Chalisa. who was a poet-saint who lived in the 16th century CE. He has mentioned his name in the last verse of the hymn. It is said in the 39th verse of Hanuman Chalisa that whoever chants it with devotion to Hanuman ji will be blessed by Hanuman.

 

Introduction:

Hanuman Chalisa (Hanuman Chalisa in English)  is a poetic work written by Goswami Tulsidas in the Awadhi language. Hanuman ji’s qualities and miraculous power have been described and praised in forty verses in Hanuman Chalisa.

The meaning of the word Chalisa is forty (40), as this hymn has 40 verses or quatrains, excluding 2 couplets, hence this prayer is called Hanuman Chalisa. It is a popular prayer offered by devotees to please Lord Hanuman.

 

Method of Hanuman Chalisa:

For daily worship of Shri Ram devotee Hanumanji, the devotee should wear pure clothes (red as possible) sit facing east or north, and keep the idol or picture of Shri Hanuman ji in front of him. Red flowers, akshat, and vermilion are used in worship material. Boondi, roasted gram chironji seeds, and coconut can be taken as Prasad. Devotees meditate on Shri Ram devotee Hanumanji by taking akshat and flowers in their hand from the following shloka.

अतुलितबलधामं हेमशैलाभदेह, दनुजवनकृशानुं ज्ञानिनामग्रगण्यम्।
सकलगुणनिधाने वानराणामधीश, रघुपति प्रियभक्तवातजातं नमामी।।
मनोजवं मारुततुल्यवेगं जितेन्द्रियं बुद्धिमतां वरिष्ठम् ।
वातात्मजं वानरयूथमुख्यं श्रीरामदूतं शरणं प्रपद्ये ।।

Atulitbaldham Hemshailabhadeh, Danujavankrishanum Gyaninaamgraganyam.
Sakalgunnidhane Vanranamdhish, Raghupati Priyabhaktwatjaat Namami.
Manojvam Maruttulyvagam Jitendriyam Buddhimatam Seniorim.
Vaatatmajan Vanarayuthamukhyam Shri Ramdoot Sharanam Prapadye.

After this, start reciting Hanuman Chalisa by offering flowers, Akshat etc. After recitation, chant Om Hanu Hanu Hanu Hanumate Namah mantra 108 times.

Hanuman Chalisa (Hanuman Chalisa in English) can also be read during the journey. You can recite Hanuman Chalisa even at night. You can recite Hanuman Chalisa daily after taking bath in the morning. While reciting Hanuman Chalisa, sit on a red aasan and light a lamp of cow’s ghee.
