Shiva Tandava Stotram represents the cosmic dance of Lord Shiva who dispels all negative energies. It consists of 15 verses and each verse describes in detail the fearless Shiva and his eternal beauty.

The story of Shiva Tandava Stotra  begins from the day Ravana tried to lift Mount Kailash in his hand to take Lord Shiva with him to Sri Lanka. As a result, Lord Shiva pressed his toe and crushed Ravana’s fingers in the process. Ravana moaned in pain. To escape the wrath of Lord Shiva, Ravana sang a hymn, which popularly came to be known as Shiva Tandava Stotram.
