Shri Bhaktamal (Bhaktamal in English) is a famous text of Indian devotional poetry and saint literature, composed by Acharya Nabhadas ji around the 16th century. Acharya Nabhadas ji was a famous Vaishnav saint, who was associated with the Ramanandi tradition. He was born in 1539 AD. He was a disciple of the great saint Acharya Agradas ji and with the blessings of his guru, he composed this unique text based on devotion.

Goswami Nabhadas ji was born in Awadh region (Uttar Pradesh). He was a contemporary of Goswami Tulsidas ji and had deep respect for him. Nabhadas ji was a follower of the Vallabh sect and composed Bhaktamal with the aim of taking the path of devotion to the general public. The purpose of this book is to describe the glory of devotion and saints. In this, devotion has been presented as the highest sadhana of life.

By understanding the characters, all the defects of man, such as craving for sensual pleasures, tendency to do bad deeds, tendency to earn money through injustice etc. are eradicated from the root. All these benefits are obtained by studying the Bhaktamala Paath, however, the special gift of this Paath is the destruction of ego i.e. the attainment of sorrow. By reading and listening to the stories described in it with love, ego gradually gets destroyed and the great sorrow of the heart of the devotees starts getting transmitted to the heart of the reader, as a result of which he gets entry into the kingdom of devotion.
