Introduction:-

There are 5 verses in Shiv Manas Puja, which can worship Lord Shiva mentally with archana, abhishek, incense, lamp, naivedya, aarti etc. The mantras used in Shiv Manas Puja are also called Shiv Manas Puja Strotras.

Shiv Manas Puja Stuti was composed by the 8th century spiritual master, Adi Shankaracharya. It was included in the ashram’s daily program by Baba Muktananda in the 1960s, along with the recitation of ‘Sri Shivamahimna Stotram’, and since then this stotra has been sung in Siddha Yoga ashrams. Siddha Yogis regularly sing Shlokas 4 and 5 of the Shree Shivamanaspuja when they start doing Seva, thus dedicating their actions to the service of the Guru and the Lord.

Shiv Manas Puja in English 

रत्नैः कल्पितमासनं हिमजलैः स्नानं च दिव्याम्बरं।
नाना रत्न विभूषितम् मृग मदामोदांकितम् चंदनम॥
जाती चम्पक बिल्वपत्र रचितं पुष्पं च धूपं तथा।
दीपं देव दयानिधे पशुपते हृत्कल्पितम् गृह्यताम्॥1॥

ratnaih kalpitamasanam himajalaih snanam ca divyambaram
nanaratna-vibhusitam mrgamada-modankitam candanam ।
jati-campaka-bilvapatra-racitam puspam ca dhupam tatha
dipam deva dayanidhe pasupate hrtkalpitam grhyatam ॥ 1 ॥

Meaning:
O Mahadev, O Dayanidhe, O Pashupate, this throne made of gems, bath with cool water, divine clothes decorated with many gems, sandalwood mixed with musk, etc., wreaths made of sandalwood, Juhi, Champa and bilvapatra, and incense and lamps, accept all these mental worship.

 

सौवर्णे नवरत्न खंडरचिते पात्र धृतं पायसं।
भक्ष्मं पंचविधं पयोदधि युतं रम्भाफलं पानकम्॥
शाका नाम युतं जलं रुचिकरं कर्पूर खंडौज्ज्वलं।
ताम्बूलं मनसा मया विरचितं भक्त्या प्रभो स्वीकुरु॥2॥

sauvarne navaratna-khanda-racite patre ghrtam payasam
bhaksyam pañcavidham payodadhiyutam rambhaphalam panakam ।
sakanama-yutam jalam rucikaram karpura-khandojjvalam
tambulam manasa maya viracitam bhaktya prabho svikuru ॥ 2 ॥

Meaning:
I have presented five types of dishes including kheer, milk, and yogurt in a golden pot studded with new gemstones, pumpkin fruit, syrup, many vegetables, sweet water scented with camphor, and purified and Istanbul all made with beads.
O Lord, please accept them.

 

छत्रं चामर योर्युगं व्यजनकं चादर्शकं निमलं।
वीणा भेरि मृदंग काहलकला गीतं च नृत्यं तथा॥
साष्टांग प्रणतिः स्तुति-र्बहुविधा ह्येतत्समस्तं ममा।
संकल्पेन समर्पितं तव विभो पूजां गृहाण प्रभो॥3॥

chatram camarayoryugam vyajanakam cadarsakam nirmalam
vina-bheri-mrdangakahalakala gitam ca nrtyam tatha ।
sasṭangam pranatih stutirbahuvidha hyetatsamastam maya
sankalpena samarpitam tava vibho pujam grhana prabho ॥ 3 ॥

Meaning:
Umbrella, two chavars, fan, clean mirror, veena, bheri, mridang, dundubhi’s instruments, songs and dances, prostrations, various praises, all these I surrender to you with my resolution. O Lord, accept this worship of mine.

 

आत्मा त्वं गिरिजा मतिः सहचराः प्राणाः शरीरं गृहं।
पूजा ते विषयोपभोगरचना निद्रा समाधिस्थितिः॥
संचारः पदयोः प्रदक्षिणविधिः स्तोत्राणि सर्वा गिरो।
यद्यत्कर्म करोमि तत्तदखिलं शम्भो तवाराधनम्॥4॥

atma tvam girija matih sahacarah pranah sariram grham
puja te visayopabhogaracana nidra samadhi-sthitih ।
sañcarah padayoh pradaksinavidhih stotrani sarva giro
yadyatkarma karomi tattadakhilam sambho tavaradhanam ॥ 4 ॥

Meaning:
O Shambho, you are my soul, your intellect is Parvatiji, your soul is your body, your body is your temple, the creation of all sensual pleasures is your worship, sleep is your samadhi, my movement is your circumambulation and all words are your hymns. In this way, whatever work I do, it is all your worship.

 

कर चरण कृतं वाक्कायजं कर्मजं वा श्रवणनयनजं वा मानसं वापराधम्।
विहितमविहितं वा सर्वमेतत्क्षमस्व जय जय करणाब्धे श्री महादेव शम्भो॥5॥

karacarana krtam vakkayajam karmajam va
sravananayanajam va manasam vaparadham ।
vihitamavihitam va sarvametat ksamasva
jaya jaya karunabdhe sri mahadeva sambho ॥ 5 ॥

Meaning:
Whatever crimes have been committed by hands, feet, speech, body, deeds, ears, eyes, or mind, whether they are prescribed or unprescribed, O ocean of mercy Mahadev Shambho to all of them. you forgive O Mahadev Shambho, hail you, hail you.
